Using petroleum jelly is the most practical option to get rid of hair lice. All you need to do is apply a thick layer of petroleum jelly to the scalp and leave it overnight. Cover your head with a towel or a shower cap. In the morning use some baby oil to remove the  petroleum jelly. Comb your hair thoroughly to remove the lice. Wash your hair thereafter. You can use a mix of coconut oil and camphor as the oil will smother the lice and the camphor will kill them because of the anti-parasitic properties. Use this hair mask about thrice a week to get rid of head lice.

Post 30 minutes wash off with hot water. Comb your hair while it is still wet to remove the dead lice.
